UCLPartners is looking for an individual with a passion for improvement to lead the UCLPartners patient safety programme. The Head of Patient Safety will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of the patient safety programme, working with NHS partners to make sustainable improvements to the quality and safety of care provided to patients and carers.
The Programme / Project
The patient safety programme sits within the quality and capability development team of UCLPartners, which supports individuals, organisations and health economies across the region to develop the capability and capacity to improve quality, patient outcomes and experience, alongside increasing efficiency.
The patient safety programme supports partners in three key ways:
- Leading patient safety initiatives focused on clinical priorities
- Building improvement capability through training and developing networks
- Nurturing patient safety culture and leadership.
As well as meeting local need, the patient safety programme.
The Head of Patient Safety will be responsible for the successful leadership and management of the patient safety programme, working with other senior members of the quality and capability development team and with the support of the improvement manager for patient safety amongst others.
This role entails robust programme management and improvement skills and will provide support to teams across the partnership, ensuring co-ordination with the wider improvement and capability team to provide suitable support to the partnership. The post-holder will work closely with the head of quality and capability development programmes to operationalise the patient safety strategy and ensure it ties to the wider improvement programmes at UCLPartners.
The role will provide leadership to all UCLPartners patient safety projects, including the three national NHS Improvement work streams: Maternity and neonatal health and safety, deterioration and patient safety culture.
We are looking for a leader with a clinical (medical, nursing or allied health) background with a passion for improvement to successfully manage this important programme for UCLPartners.
The post-holder will have extensive experience in senior programme management and working with leaders in health and care settings. They will have a collaborative approach and influencing skills to support people in their improvement activities.
