Be Part of Our Team...

Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) has more than 5000 staff working across Birmingham and the West Midlands in a wide range of community nursing and specialist healthcare roles. BCHC delivers over 100 clinical services, in people's homes, health centres, clinics and inpatient facilities. We deliver a wide range of services for children, young people, parents and families as well as adults and community services, two community hospitals, services for people with learning disabilities, prison healthcare in Birmingham, the internationally recognised West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre and one of Europe’s leading Dental Hospitals and School of Dentistry.

The 2014 Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection found BCHC to be well led, effective, responsive, caring and safe, rating the Trust as ‘good’ overall. Employees were praised for their caring and compassionate nature. If you want to ‘Be Part of Our Team’ and work with a Trust which is continuously striving for better care and healthier communities, we want to hear from you.

We have an ambition to deliver outstanding, integrated care and as one of the key NHS providers in the West Midlands, we are progressing significant service change across the Birmingham and Solihull STP and beyond, and this post will play a key role in our transformation, implementing changes with the potential to shape the way health and care is delivered in the years to come. As Birmingham prepares to play host to the Commonwealth Games, we have launched a refresh of vision, values and strategy to ensure that, as an organisation, we are “Fit for 2022”.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Birmingham is a fantastic place to live and we serve a wide range of people and communities. BCHC is an advocate of diversity and strive to mirror our community as much possible.

We are committed to and actively promote equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals from all areas of the community who meet the specific criteria are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage/civil partnerships.

About you BCHC is looking for a strong, dynamic and inspirational experienced leader to join us in our commitment to have outstanding services for our patients across a range of community services to deliver robust corporate governance and assurance frameworks.

As Director of Nursing and Therapies you will be a voting member of the Trust’s Board and a member of the Executive Team, reporting to the Chief Executive. Your responsibilities will include providing leadership and professional development to our nursing and therapies workforce, leading on clinical governance and infection prevention and control, and Patient Experience which, following a recent review of executive portfolios, includes complaints handling. As the lead for Children’s and Adults’ Safeguarding you cover all NHS Children’s and Families Safeguarding across Birmingham.

This is a high profile, external responsibility for the role as Birmingham makes significant changes in the Safeguarding area, reflecting its aspirations. To meet the opportunity presented by this role, you will need to bring experience of operating at or close to board level, and you must bring experience of leading on corporate responsibilities. You will also need to show understanding of community services and community models of care, and of leadership of a dispersed workforce. We are particularly interested in your ideas for innovation in the workforce, so any evidence of pioneering work in this area will be especially relevant.

If you are interested in being a part of a talented and experienced team that is going to push our Trust into a new realm of health care delivery, we would love to hear from you. Please visit www.bchc‐ to learn more about us and the role and to apply. For a confidential discussion, contact John Wilson or Robin Staveley of GatenbySanderson on 0113 205 6292.

Closing date: 9AM Monday 18th June 2018; Final interviews 16th and 17th July 2018.
