Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job Reference: 847-A-18-1645

Employer: Spectrum Community Health

Department: Trinity Walk

Location: Wakefield

Salary: Spectrum Band 6 plus £1500 welcome payment

Spectrum Community Health CIC is a community owned, award winning health provider. Our recent success at achieving four new contracts demonstrates our policy of innovation and continuous improvement, and is testimony to our committed and talented teams. As a Social Enterprise our profits are reinvested into our staff and services, and we benefit from being independent, large enough to provide a level of security, yet small enough to be able to make things happen.

Our multi-disciplinary teams provide healthcare services to some of the most vulnerable people in our society, from diverse backgrounds, who present a full range of general, mental health and recovery concerns.

Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our integrated sexual health service (ISHS) in Wakefield. The successful candidate will be dual trained in contraception and the management of Sexually Transmitted Infections, with additional skills such as (implant insertion, cryotherapy, curettage, microscopy etc). Non-medical prescribing is advantageous but not essential, the use of Patient Group Directions would be essential.

The individual will be responsible for the holistic care of patients attending ISHS and should be able to manage the sexual health needs as well as addressing any other issues which become apparent during consultation; examples of issues could include substance misuse or safeguarding issues.

Working alone and as part of a team are essential for this post as independently you will manage patient care but will work as part of a wider team of clinical, and non-clinical staff. There is some evening a weekend work included in this post, and there may be a requirement to move across the district to the current spoke clinics which are within the Wakefied district boundary.

This post also attracts a £1500 welcome payment (subject to terms and conditions).

Spectrum’s Terms and Conditions are comparable with those offered by the NHS (Agenda for Change or Medical and Dental), therefore, you will receive an excellent benefits package, including membership of the NHS pension scheme, life insurance, discounts, free parking (at the majority of sites, subject to availability). A full list of employee rewards and benefits is contained in the separate document attached.

The post holder will be expected to undertake safeguarding training (Children and Adults) appropriate to their role and adhere to policies and procedures relevant to the area they work in.

Thank you for your interest in our post. Before you apply please ensure you read the following:

  • All communication will be sent via NHS jobs so please check your account regularly

  • Please read all the documentation before applying to ensure you tailor your application specifically to our post

  • Due to the large volume of applications we do not have the facility to respond to everyone. If you have not been contacted within 3 weeks of the closing date, please assume that you have not been shortlisted on this occasion

  • Please apply early - we may close early should we receive sufficient applications

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
